Cookie Monster is a cuddly blue monster who has an uncontrollable
appetite for cookies. He has also been known to eat anything from
plates and telephones to the Letter of the Day and the set of Sesame Street.
Cookie Monster’s unique speech is relatable to children who are still
discovering new aspects of language. His huge appetite has made him
the perfect character to model healthy habits as he continues to learn
about cooking and eating healthy foods. Cookie Monster has explained
that cookies are a “sometimes food” and that it’s important to eat
fruits and vegetables, too.
Despite his struggle to control his impulses and delay gratification,
Cookie Monster will always share his snacks with his friends like Elmo
and Abby. Along with his new pal Gonger, he teaches children all about
their favorite foods in his “Cookie Monster’s Food Truck”segment on Sesame Street.
Sesame Street celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019 and
was honored by the USPS with a se-tenant set of 16 stamps. Now Cookie
Monster can be mailed around the world on birthday cards, thank yous,
and possibly even cookie recipes sent to friends!
